Amy gifted me a holga lens that mounts to Canon EOS for Christmas. The vignette-esque images above were shot through that. Can't really see through the viewfinder, or focus the lens but they turn out interesting. The tighter images were shot with a 300mm 4.0 IS, that Josh let me shoot with while he was floating in the lineup shooting.

If you haven't checked out moderncollective.tv, then you should. I have to admit, I have checked their blogsite everyday for the past 6 months. Kai Neville (Director) is a genius behind the lens and within the editing bay. Needless to say, when I was gifted 2 tickets to the Hollywood world tour opener via twitter (Thanks Taylor Steele) I was pretty psyched. I shot some photos of the event for the boys at TW. (See them here)

When we walked in, a nice gal handed us a pair of skull candy headphones, and a receiver. She told us to put them on when the film started for an amazing audio experience (in stereo!).

I was blown away. The photography was insane, every shot was beautifully captured and the level of surfing was off the richter! The highly anticipated, mega hyped film held up.

Cabo Part II

We made it across the border in one piece. Chris Abad, C-Mags and Quirk were shredding super hard from sun up to sun down. The trip was a blast, and I learned a ton about what it takes to capture such raw surfing. At any moment there could be a blow tail, mega shack or high flying revo. I did my best to capture it all and here is a bit of what we came back with. In my opinion, our hard work and team effort was rewarded with some keeper images and a ton of footage. Scott will drop us a killer vid with all the clips he snagged. I can't wait.

Started out in the dark, as our team captain Abad broke us out of the sheets before the sun had began its baking process. We choked down a mug of jet fuel flavored coffee and piece by piece assembled ourselves out front. Our videographer Scott sat patiently waiting to wrangle clips. I decided to run down the beach and perch atop a hill of sand. Shying away from the rising tide, Scott and I captured the action as team Surf Ride tore apart the building swell.

Later on, Cheyne climbed a tree scavenging for coconuts. He found a machete in the garage and proceeded to blast them apart. We drank and ate till our bodies felt nourished.

We launched the ski and JQ headed North. The rest of us jumped in the suburban and blazed towards the oasis. We parked and meandered through the fire ridden forrest of leafy palm trees. It was a relaxing yet curious walk leading to the wide open beach framed by jagged cliffside.

They traded off hucking themselves into the skyline backed with blue water and falling cliffside.

After returning to base camp, we rejoiced in our catch of photographs and video for the day. We celebrated with drink and great food.

Currently we are hunting for swell. Come back later for more action.

This weekend was epic. Invited by Transworld Surf, I got to hang out with the big dogs and shoot photos all weekend. I learned a ton from my new friends and shot some keepers.
